Who Needs Dentures?

Anyone who has lost several teeth may be a great candidate for full-mouth dentures or partial dentures. Dental implants are typically the first restoration type we like to look to because they offer the best option for the prevention of bone loss, but they aren't an option for every patient. The most important thing is taking action. There are dangers to leaving too many gaps in your smile for too long. Missing teeth can force other teeth to work extra-hard (and wear down faster), make your facial muscles sag, and can lead to rapidly developing speech problems since we use our teeth to express many of the sounds we make. And let's not forget... self-confidence can really take a hit when we are embarrassed by our smile. Schedule your Walnut Creek, CA dentures consult with us today!

How Are Dentures Fitted?

When you come in for a set of dentures, we’ll start by creating a mold of your gums and existing teeth. If teeth need to be extracted they will be done so at this time as well. We will then go over the shape, size and shade of teeth you would like. While you are waiting for your new dentures to come back from the lab, we'll supply you with temporary dentures. These are not always the most comfortable but it's important to remember these are temporary.

Once your new dentures come back from the lab, if you’re not able to go with implant-supported dentures, the new dentures will be attached directly to your gums. You may need to come back in a few weeks for a slight adjustment once your jaw has shifted, especially if teeth were extracted. One of the most important aspects of creating your custom dentures is making sure they are comfortable for you to wear. The fit is extremely important. Dr. Villaseñor takes great pride in his work and will work diligently with you to make sure both fit and aesthetics are outstanding.
